You've heard the phrase "rise above it", right? That means if someone is trying to drag you down, don't go there. If someone puts us down, says negative things that may or may not be true, don't feel the need to do the same thing back. Don't let someone steal your power. You have the power to be wise and wise (rise) above it. When you ignore negativity, it usually goes away. Just say to yourself, "Yea, whatever. Moving on."
Yesterday I was talking with a wise person, a mentor, about a bad habit I'm trying to break. That person said to me, "You're better than that. Remind yourself I'm better than that." What simple advice, but you know what? It's helping. I am better than that. You are too! Wise Above.

P.S. Remember when we were trying to have 500 page views on this site? Yea, well, we're at 551 :-). Thank you for your comments. Keep 'em coming. Remind your friends to stay tuned in to the site and follow also. Wise Women NMS rock! Rock on, ooooohhhh, that reminds me, I believe you have a certain performer coming to your school tomorrow. Best wishes. Hope it is a great time. Don't go too crazy, it's still school. ;-)
Resist the temptation to have to be right or have to have the last word. Very few things in life are worth fighting about--almost nothing. My girlfriend said recently "don't be the dog in the room." She likes dogs. I like dogs too. But she was referring to how a dog will get their last little "woof" in after you tell them to be quiet. She and I laughed that going forward we would have no bark and no woof. Instead, we want each day to speak with truth and kindness or not speak at all. Sometimes the best thing is to say nothing. Knowing when to speak or when to hold our tongue is part of growing wise.
